Education Advisory Committee (EAC)

The Education Advisory Committee (EAC) fulfills the education mission of Division 40. The EAC serves in an advisory capacity to the Executive Committee of the Division and informs the Division membership of education-related issues and developments.

The Education Advisory Committee is composed of eight core Continuing Members as well as rotating Organizational Representatives from six training/professional organizations in neuropsychology spanning the doctoral, internship and post-doctoral level.

FAQ Section – The EAC is interested in adding a FAQ section to our portion of the website.  Send us common questions about doctoral, internship or post-doctoral training that you think would be helpful for those approaching these milestones.  Send questions to cimino@mail.usf.edu

List of Training Programs – The list of training programs will now be updated annually in February to maintain more current information on these programs.

APA Consolidated Meeting (Education Directorate)
The Chair represented the EAC and Division 40 at this meeting held March 19th -21st 2010.  Participation in this meeting allows for coordination of education/training initiatives of Div 40 with APA. 

Education Leadership Conference - Dr. Cimino attended the Educational Leadership Conference (ELC) October 4th -7th 2009 in Washington DC – "Preparing Tomorrow's Health Workforce" – which included many issues relevant to the education and training of clinical neuropsychologists.    

Graduate Psychology Education Program – This is the only source of federal funds for training in psychology.  As a result of advocacy efforts at the ELC in October 2009, funding for this program was increased to 2.8 million.  The GPE application deadline is April 19th 2010. 

 

 Specific goals of the EAC are to:   

  • promote the recognition of Clinical Neuropsychology as a specialty within APA with defined education and training requirements.
  • support and promote the implementation of the Houston Conference  recommendations on Specialty Education and Training in Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • facilitate training in clinical neuropsychology at all levels including doctoral, internship, post-doctoral, early career and continuing professional education and serves as a forum for communication and coordination among the various training organizations in clinical neuropsychology.
  • maintain the Division 40 list of  Training Programs that is updated annually to disseminate information about doctoral, internship and post-doctoral training programs in clinical neuropsychology. 
  • serve an advisory role to ANST (Association of Neuropsychology Students in Training) and help sponsor education/training information sessions at APA and INS
  • serve an advisory role to Division 40’s representative to the APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists to facilitate efforts of clinical neuropsychologists at the early stages of professional development.
  • monitor future trends and changes in education and training that impact clinical neuropsychology through participation in Education Directorate activities such as the APA Consolidated meetings and Education Leadership Conferences.
