DIVISION 40 OVERVIEW: As an interest society for neuropsychology, the mission of the Division of Clinical Neuropsychology is to provide a scientific and professional forum for individuals interested in the study of the relationship between the brain and human behavior. Membership should not be construed as a qualification for the practice of clinical neuropsychology.

DIVISION 40 SIZE: Division 40 is the 3rd largest division within APA with over 4,100 members (only Divisions 12 [Clinical Psychology] & 42 [Psychologists for independent Practice] are large

DIVISION 40’s APA CONFERENCE PROGRAMMING: As part of the annual APA meeting, Division 40 sponsors a rich program of scientific, educational, and social activities. In addition, Division 40 conducts an annual business meeting, which is open to all members, and is always followed by a social hour. Division 40 welcomes all members’ participation in all of these events, and invites you to come and meet your fellow Members this August.

DIVISION 40 LISTSERVS: Division 40 offers three listservs that are open to all interested individuals. Information and sign-up details for all of these listservs (Div40ANNOUNCE, Div40EMA, and Div40WIN) is as follows:

To join a Division 40 listserv, send an e-mail message to listserv@lists.apa.org as follows:

The subject line should be blank.
The body of the message should read: SUBSCRIBE Listname First Last [substitute the name of the list you wish to join and your own first and last names].
Example: If Jane Brain wishes to join the ANNOUNCE listserv, she would write SUBSCRIBE DIV40ANNOUNCE Jane Brain.
Please note that there is no space between div and 40 or between 40 and announce.

Overview of the Division 40 Listservs:

DIV40ANNOUNCE is an announce-only list (that is, you will be able to receive information from the Division but not send posts to the other list members) created to allow members to receive information from the Division about divisional activities and advocacy efforts relevant to clinical neuropsychology.

DIV40EMA is a discussion forum for the Division 40 Ethnic Minority Affairs Interest Group, which focuses on professional development for neuropsychologists and students who are members of ethnic minority groups as well as the promotion of culturally competent research, practice and training among all neuropsychologists.

DIV40WIN is a discussion forum for the Division 40 Women in Neuropsychology Interest Group, which focuses on professional development of women and efforts to increase the representation of women in leadership positions.

DIVISION 40 NEWSLETTER: As part of Division 40 membership, members receive the Division 40 newsletter, which is published twice per year and mailed directly from APA. The newsletter covers the division's official activities, notifies the membership of important issues and events, disseminates minutes of division business meetings, and provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of professional issues.
